Released, at last

This world is a torture-house
With just glimpses of happiness.
So, what can one do when he is trapped
In this normally abnormal place?
Taking one day at a time,
And holding fast to faith and hope,
He reaches the end of his prison days
To reunite, at last, with his long-waiting beloved.

Indeed Ayesha, life is a journey with loads of stations and v sit with the hope that someone would be waiting for us at the next station,we start preparing for it, least do we realise that our station is but the end of the journey when we would unite v the Almighty, he indeed is our ultimate goal. Beautifully put in simple words. THANKS AYESHA, May ur journey be a pleasant one:)

Very wonderfully put and really apt. Life sometimes can prove to be a prison but its hope that gives in to view a new beginning and a colorful insight into life!!

Hi Ayesha:)

Very well thought out, beautifully written, wonderful, thought provoking post.

Many thoughts come to my mind:

Is this world really a torture house?

Do we get only glimpses of happiness?

Is it enough to take one day at a time?

Will faith and hope take us to the end of our prison days?

I agree and disagree with many of these points.

It is a torture house if we don't have a worthwhile aim, if we squander time, if we don't have a plan, if we float around like a rudderless ship, if we worry unnecessarily, if we live in fear, if we have no love and affection, if we are lonely, if we lose our respect and many more such things. On the other hand, it is a lovely, beautiful, exciting world if we have worthwhile goals, prepared to make sacrifices to achieve our ambitions, abhor present gratification for long term achievement, be optimistic and cheerful, have confidence in our ability, move forward purposefully with determination, save for a rainy day, have a network of good friends, enjoy good books, love nature and so on.

As regards happiness, it is well known happiness is a state of mind. If you let someone or something make you unhappy, then it is a choice you have made. On the other hand, if you decide that nothing will make you unhappy, then again you are making a deliberate choice to be happy irrespective of your adverse circumstances, or nasty people or things which you don't like. What ever is to happen will happen. What is the point in being unhappy about it. What stops you from being unhappy except yourself?

Taking one day at a time is a good idea. Living in the present is an excellent idea. People who are busy, have things to accomplish, live each day as though it is the last day of their lives, these are the people who find lasting peace and happiness. They have no time for regret, no time for hate, no time for revenge. It is said IDLE MIND IS DEVILS WORKSHOP.

Yes, we need faith in God and hope for the future life. Faith will move mountains. Faith will help us overcome problems. Faith will give us inner peace. Faith in God is the foundation on which our success, our happiness and our future in this life and the next is built upon. We should have a very strong foundation of faith, very firm unshakable faith and a faith that will withstand the storms of this short but sweet life.

I am sure with qualities such as these we can live a worthy, fruitful, satisfactory, successful, peaceful and happy life.

Well, perhaps more can be written on your thought provoking, interesting post. I suppose this will suffice for the present.

Many thanks for giving me a platform to express my thoughts.

Have a lovely day Ayesha,
Joseph:)

Hah hah hah...I knew you would read many things in it, my friend.

Yes, the beauty of literature lies in the fact that each reader can interpret a piece of literary work, in his/her own way.

Best wishes :)

Hi Ajai!

I feel honoured that you can identify with what I have tried to depict.

Life can be really tough at times; however, if we hold on to what deep within us we know is right, we do manage to be happy, in the long run.

I had written the poem when I was feeling rather helpless. I am feeling okay now.

Cheers, my friend :)

Very true....this world indeed is a torture house and we get only glimpses of happiness. And only if we meet our Beloved, we can know true happiness.

How wonderfully you have expressed it ayesha! Loved it :-)

Take care!
