The Child's Question

The little child asks herself why she was born
To a mother who has no love for her;
She has a friend in her doting father,
But he is busy working all the time.
The little child needs someone to play with,
But there is no one to listen to her;
She waits for her grandparents to come
From a city far, far away.
The little child knows not why
She has been left all alone;
Not a soul has the courage or time
To answer her innocent question.

@ Issam,

Thank you for your comment. You are right: there are many such children who have stunted childhood because their parents do not give them enough love and attention.

Best wishes:)

@ KParthasarathi,

What is the point in being too busy to bestow affection on her child? Some women are so much into glamour and parties that they have neither the time nor the interest to hug their children with love. It is sad, but true.

And, if such a parent finds his/her child disappointing regarding looks or intelligence, the child has a miserable childhood and often carries the emotional scars for life.

Best wishes :)

@ Aparna V.S

Thank you for you visit and the comment. In our culture, we often glorify a mother; but the truth is that some mothers (and even some fathers)are their children's worst enemies.

Best wishes :)

Very thought provoking. Something that parents should think about. Especially in today's scenario where workaholic parents seems to be every child's woe.

Sad and poignant poem!

I read your comments above and I have to agree with you...for many their parents turn to be their worst enemies.
