Beyond the applause

Often the ones who get the applause deserve it the least and the sincere, honest person's contribution is very 'conveniently' overlooked by the majority. Should that stop us from doing our duty and living by our conscience? I don't think it should, because the truly great soul knows how to contribute to the general good even when not a single person claps for him. A great mind belongs to that man or woman who knows his calling and, regardless of the ridicule or the negligence from others, finds joy within his/her heart.
No one claps when the sun rises, but that does not stop the sun from spreading life-giving warmth and light for the whole world.

Very true... Motivation to do something should always come from within :)

With due respect, I would not agree that "Often the ones who get the applause deserve it the least and the sincere" , it may be true at times, I know there are smart people to take the credit away from the real deserving one, but finally the truth prevails.

Regarding "Should that stop us from doing our duty and living by our conscience?" , I would like to say that after all we are practical human being and we all love appreciation, praise and these also keep one going in addition to his conscience and inner-call. We should always try to be like those greats, but it is difficult to achieve, not everyone can do that. That's why most of us, who can't do that do remain as common people and those few who achieves that, reach greater heights.

sad reality.
i sometimes find myself quite comfortable even when I don't get applause, if my contribution proved worthy. It feels like instant revenge. They didn't applaud me, they have to eat the insult of getting a free contribution from me.

You're certainly right! Those who truly deserve remain anonymous and are likely to be acknowledged....

Like sun, like flower, like mountains...they keep doing their duty and are immensely satisfied by what they do...As Krishna's says they are not bothered about the results.

Thanks for the inspiring write-up!

Very True! The people who do their bit for others do not make a big hue and cry bout it...for them its part of their duty. Thanks for sharing the wonderful thought!

Very true Ayesha!! Have seen several instances where people who deserve it the least get credit. And this can be a demotivator for sincere and perseverant folks. But hard work certainly bears its fruit,so such ppl should continue with the same determination and grit.

that is so true! in fact, it is quite a new perspective for me.. i mean i was just scrolling down the page of your blog and i saw a picture in which there's you and your little boy. and i read that poem 'the mountain of light'. you are a mother and when you write a poem like that, it did make me cry. sometimes, we can think of how small sacrifices our parents make but we do not realise them taking them for granted many many times.. and still they smile and move on with life..
about this post of yours, it is truly enlightening, i should say.

thanks!

:)
